ISA 53:1 “Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD
revealed?
ISA 53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root
out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we
shall see him, [there is] no beauty that we should desire him.
ISA 53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and
acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were [our] faces from him;
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
ISA 53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we
did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
ISA 53:5 But he [was] wounded for our transgressions, [he was] bruised for
our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace [was] upon him; and
with his stripes we are healed.” (KJV)
This passage from the writings of the prophet Isaiah describes the sufferings of the Messiah 700 years before the birth of Christ. Among the things that Jesus Christ suffered was the stripes upon His back at the hands of the Romans.
If Jesus had been flogged by the Jews, he would have been given 40 lashes, minus one for a total of 39. However, the Jews did not flog Him; he was flogged by the Romans. The Roman soldiers had no upper limit as to how many stripes a prisoner could be flogged, short of death.
The significance of the flogging of Jesus is that each stripe upon His back and body brought healing to humanity! Jesus di not only take our sins to the Cross of Calvary – He suffered in His own body so that you and I could be healed of every sickness, every disease, and every infirmity!
In other words, Jesus took our sicknesses upon Himself and paid the price so that we could be healed and set free of sickness! He bore cancer, heart disease, COVID-19, diabetes, mental illness, AIDS, leprosy, and every other disease known to mankind upon the Cross! We need to believe the report of the Lord – that He is the one that not only paid for our sins by His shed blood, but that He also paid the price to set us from sickness and disease! Hallelujah!
In the New Testament, the Apostle Peter writes:
1PETER 2:24 “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that
we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose
stripes ye were healed.” (KJV)
He bore them, so we wouldn’t have to! We need to thank Him and praise Him for the great price He paid to save us AND to heal us! We need to believe the report of the Lord and accept healing as God’s wonderful promise to us!
Indeed, we have good news to share! Jesus wants you well!
AMEN! 🖐😌
