The Biblical Ministry of a Watchman...
In the Bible, a watchman was called by God to “watch” – to stay awake and essentially perform what the military calls “guard duty”. Soldiers on guard duty are stationed along the perimeter of the camp to protect the force; to provide security and early warning against impending danger. Long before telecommunications, the watchman would bring word of what he saw or heard to the army or to the nation (2 Sam. 18:24).
The watchman would “watch and pray” (Mat. 26:41; Mark 13:33), meaning pray intercessory prayers, as the Lord leads, for God’s people, for the nations, and for the advancement of God’s kingdom, will, and purposes in the earth.
Watchmen were called to be prophets in the Old Testament. They would hear from God in their times of prayer and supplication, and then would tell God’s people what His will and plans were (Exe 3:17). The watchman would give warning of impending danger or divine judgment. From his place on the top of the watchtower, the watchman could see beyond the horizon. He might also see caravans of provision coming his way, as well as the dangers posed by approaching foreign armies.
In the New Testament, the watchman is additionally involved in spiritual warfare against the forces of darkness. He or she wrestles against principalities, powers, the rulers of the darkness of this world, and wicked spirits in heavenly places (Eph. 6:12) on behalf of God’s people. He or she adjudicates the finished work of the Cross of Calvary (John 19:30) against the hosts of hell in prayer and intercession, binding Satan and his cohorts and releasing the power of God.
Watchmen were also called of God to preach God’s Word and to teach others what they saw, heard, and understood from the Lord (Isa. 26:1; Eze. 33:7). They are called by the Lord to “blow the trumpet in Zion” (Joel 2:15). They are called to gather and assemble the people of God and declare the Word of the Lord to His people in good times and bad.
Dr. Gregory Eck has been called and ordained by God as a watchman – as a prophetic teacher and preacher of His Word, as an intercessor, and as a New Testament pastor. The meaning of the name “Gregory” is “watchman”. The name “Eck” is German for “corner”. This is the linguistic origin of this ministry, which is entitled “Watchman’s Corner Ministries”.

How You Can Help...
Luke 6:38 “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
1 Cor 9:13 “Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? 14 Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.”
Watchman’s Corner Ministries relies on the generous support of faithful men and women of God who see the need to preach and teach the whole counsel of God in this generation.
We thank you for partnering with this ministry in reaching the lost with the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, and in making disciples of all nations, as our Lord commanded us, “…teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you…” (Mat. 28:19).
